Lawnswood School Alumni
The first school on the site was built in the 1930s.
There were two separate buildings to house Lawnswood High School for girls and Leeds Modern for boys. Both were selective grammar schools. With the move to comprehensive education in the early 1980s, the school became one institution; initially a 13-18 school and then an 11-18 school. Since then Lawnswood has further evolved to become a truly comprehensive education facility educating and supporting students from a wide catchment area.
We know that many of the people who have attended Lawnswood School from the grammar school days to more recent times have a wealth of experience of their time at Lawnswood and what happened next, which could be shared with our current students.
We have entered a partnership with Future First to make contact with past students and we very much hope many past students will register and offer to play a role in the further development of the school.
Former students can offer us and our students support in several ways, including as career role models, work experience providers, mentors, governors and even fundraisers or donors. Whether former students have gone on to be graphic designers, sports coaches or surgeons, we want current students to understand the different options that are out there for them.Very simply: if former students can do it, so can they.
You can register via the following link:
You will be asked if you are interested in offering activities and new experiences for current students. This does not mean a regular or long term commitment. We will simply contact you from time to time when your skills and experience match with a curriculum, pastoral or work experience project we are planning, to see if you can contribute.
So, to all past students, we’re very much looking forward to finding out what you’ve been up to and where you are since you left. If anyone would like to send a brief resume and photo(!) for the school website we would love to add it to Latest News.
