Shabrina Warastri, Year 8
Hello! My name is Shabrina Warastri and I am currently in year 8 in Lawnswood School. I came from Indonesia, in Southeast-Asia, three years ago.
In Lawnswood, I am part of the Student Leadership programme and currently I am in the Digital Pioneering pathway of the programme. In the school, I am the Official Photographer and have catered for some of the events this year. I got into photography around 2 years ago, when my dad bought a DSLR – a Nikon D3100. I have always been interested in technology, so photography was ‘right up my street’. To me, photography is a way to see things differently and to share moments and views with others.
I enjoy photography very much, especially taking pictures of nature. Personally, I think nature is the easiest thing to photograph, as the beauty is already there – you just have to find the right angle. Another thing I like to take pictures of is places, because every place is unique and as a photographer, you can portray that place in the way you want. One thing I would love to take a picture of is the Aurora Borealis and meteor showers. When I was little, I was obsessed with space and so taking a picture or let alone see the Aurora Borealis would be a childhood dream came true.
In the future, I would love to travel the world and be a travel photographer, visiting from the highest peaks to the deepest trenches. Travelling is another thing I love to do and I hope I can visit a lot of countries and learn from their people. As a start, I will probably explore my homeland first, Indonesia!
