Dear parent / carer
As we approach the final week of the year, I am pleased to confirm some details you may find it useful to know.
Sports Day – Tuesday 17 July
I included information about Sports Day in last week’s update, but I thought it worth repeating today the slightly non-standard arrangements we have for Tuesday.
Sports day will include a wide range of sports and activities for students and promises to be a fun and participation-centred event, with a competitive element to motivate students to do their best.
Students will have a slightly later start to their day on Tuesday.
They should arrive for registration in their form room for 9.00am, already wearing their PE kit (red Lawnswood shirt, black bottoms and trainers). They will be asked to leave bags and other belongings in their form room.
We recommend that you consider sending more drink or ensure your child can buy more drink than for a normal school day, as it is likely students will spend more time than usual active and outdoors.
Lunch facilities will be available as usual. There will presentations after the event at 1.45pm and students will begin to be released at 2.00pm to go home.
Non uniform day and rewards afternoon – Wednesday 17 July
We will celebrate the end of term with a non-uniform day on Wednesday. Students will be asked to donate £1.
Lessons will finish at the end of period 3 and lunch will be from 12.00noon until 12.45pm, when the students will embark on an afternoon of activities selected by them, including creative writing; a newspaper fashion competition; trampolining; and a range of crafts.
The day will finish at normal time.
End of term arrangements
On Friday 20 July, school will finish early for students. Lessons will continue normally until 12.05pm. Students will be in form groups until 12.30pm, at which time senior staff will begin dismissing forms for the summer break.
Starting the new term in September
Term officially begins on Monday 3 September but this will be a training so school will be closed to students.
The first day of the new year for students varies by year group and is as follows:
Year 7 - to be in school and ready to be registered at 9.00am on Tuesday 4 September Years 8 to 11 - to be in school, ready to be registered at 11.00am on Tuesday 4 September Year 12 - to be in school, ready to be registered at 9.00am on Tuesday 4 September Year 13 - to be in school, ready to be registered at 8.30am on Wednesday 5 September
